Exceptions & Editorial Actions

  • Exclusions: The similarity calculation excludes the reference list and standard methodological phrasing.
  • Pre-Publication Handling: Manuscripts violating the similarity thresholds are returned to the corresponding author for revision or rejected outright, depending on the extent and apparent intent of the overlap.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Undisclosed reuse of an author's own previously published material is treated under the same strict policy as third-party plagiarism.
Post-Publication Discovery Instances of plagiarism identified after publication are handled in accordance with COPE retraction guidelines and are reported directly to the author's affiliated institution.
