Peer Review Process

The Journal of Sustainable Bioeconomy and One Health (JSBOH) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and publication ethics. To ensure the quality of published research, every submitted manuscript undergoes a rigorous, systematic, and transparent evaluation process.

Review Policy

JSBOH utilizes a Double-Blind Peer Review system for manuscript evaluation. While the full roster of our Editorial Board and acknowledged Reviewers is transparently displayed on our website to ensure institutional credibility, the specific identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept strictly concealed from one another during the assessment of any individual manuscript. This dual approach ensures total objectivity in the review process while maintaining public transparency regarding the journal's management.

The journey of a manuscript from submission to publication involves the following steps:

1. Initial Screening (Desk Review)

Upon submission, the Editorial Team conducts a preliminary review to ensure the manuscript aligns with the journal’s interdisciplinary Focus and Scope (Agriculture, Business, Health, Law, or IT). In this stage, we verify adherence to the author guidelines and conduct a strict similarity check (plagiarism screening) using standard software. Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum criteria, or fall outside the journal's scope, will be rejected at this stage to save the authors' time.

2. Peer Review Stage

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two (2) independent expert reviewers whose expertise aligns with the specific pillar of the article. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several core criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the contribution.
  • Soundness of the methodology and data analysis.
  • Clarity of presentation and logical flow.
  • Relevance to sustainable bioeconomy and one health challenges.

3. Revision and Editorial Decision

Based on the detailed feedback and recommendations from the reviewers, the Editor-in-Chief (or the assigned Handling Editor) makes the final decision. The possible outcomes are:

  • Accepted: The manuscript is ready for publication.
  • Revisions Required (Minor or Major): The authors are asked to revise and improve their manuscript based on the reviewers' constructive comments. The revised version may undergo a second round of review if necessary to ensure all concerns have been addressed.
  • Rejected: The manuscript is deemed unsuitable for publication in JSBOH.

4. Final Approval and Production

Once a manuscript is formally accepted, it proceeds to the copyediting, layout formatting, and proofreading stages. The final article will then be published in one of our scheduled issues (February, May, August, or November).
