Peer Review Process

The Journal of Future Learning Ecosystems (JFLE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, fair, and transparent peer review process. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Initial Editorial Assessment

Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the Editorial Office to determine its compliance with the journal's submission guidelines, ethical standards, formatting requirements, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements or fall outside the journal's scope may be rejected without external review.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to an Associate Editor or Handling Editor, who invites at least two independent expert reviewers with relevant expertise in the manuscript's subject area. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and novelty of the research.
  • Scientific rigor and methodological soundness.
  • Significance and contribution to the field.
  • Relevance to the journal's focus and scope.
  • Clarity, organization, and quality of presentation.
  • Validity of data analysis and interpretation.
  • Adequacy of references and supporting literature.
  • Ethical compliance where applicable.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revisions
  • Minor revisions
  • Major revisions
  • Reject

For manuscripts requiring revisions, authors are expected to submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response addressing each reviewer comment. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for making the final publication decision after considering the reviewers' reports, the authors' revisions, and the overall scientific quality of the manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief's decision is final.

Ethical Principles

Editors and reviewers evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit without regard to the authors' nationality, gender, institutional affiliation, or personal characteristics. All participants in the review process are expected to maintain confidentiality, declare any potential conflicts of interest, and adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics.

Review Timeline

JFLE strives to provide an efficient review process. The average timeline is as follows:

  • Initial editorial screening: 3–7 days
  • Peer review: 2–4 weeks
  • Author revision: 1–3 weeks (depending on the extent of revisions)
  • Final editorial decision: 3–7 days
  • Online publication after acceptance: within 1–2 weeks

The journal continuously endeavors to minimize processing time while maintaining the quality and integrity of the peer review process.
