Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to The Synergy: Journal of Outcome-Based Community Engagement must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. As an outcome-based journal, we strictly require authors to present empirical evidence of community transformation, rather than merely descriptive activity logs.

1. General Formatting

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in good academic English or standard Indonesian. If written in Indonesian, the Title and Abstract must be provided in English.
  • Length: Articles should typically be between 4,000 to 6,000 words (excluding references).
  • Reference Style: Citations and bibliography must follow the APA 7th Edition format. The use of reference managers (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero) is mandatory.
  • Minimum References: At least 15 primary references (scientific journals published within the last 5-10 years) to support the multidisciplinary approach.

2. Mandatory Manuscript Structure

To meet the outcome-based framework, manuscripts must strictly follow this structural outline:

Title & Abstract

The title must be concise and impactful (max 15 words). The abstract (max 250 words) must summarize the situational analysis, intervention method, and the measurable outcomes achieved.

1. Introduction (Situational Analysis & Baseline Data)

Clearly identify the community's core problem. Crucial: You must present quantitative or qualitative baseline data (the condition before intervention) and support the urgency with relevant academic literature.

2. Implementation Method

Explain the engagement framework (e.g., Participatory Action Research, ABCD). Detail the target audience, duration, and specifically how the success of the program was measured (evaluation instruments).

3. Results and Transformational Impact

Do not just list chronological activities. Compare the post-intervention results against the baseline data. Show evidence of socio-economic elevation, health improvement, or behavioral change. Use tables, charts, or infographics to illustrate impact.

4. Sustainability and Quality Assurance Plan

Mandatory Section: Explain how the community will maintain the program's benefits independently after the authors' direct involvement ends. Discuss local capacity building or institutional integration.

5. Conclusion

A brief summary directly answering the objectives based on the measured outcomes.
